บทคัดย่อ
บทความวิจัยนี้ทำความเข้าใจพลวัตสังคมชาวนาผ่านการเปลี่ยนแปลงโครงสร้างบุญประเพณีในชุมชนบ้านศรีไคออก อำเภอวารินชำราบ จังหวัดอุบลราชธานี โดยใช้วิธีการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ ผู้วิจัยมีข้อค้นพบว่า ชุมชนพยายามรักษาศักยภาพในการพึ่งพาตนเองโดยใช้บุญประเพณีมาเป็นเครื่องมือ โดยให้ความสำคัญกับหลัก 2 ประการ คือ การสร้างความมั่นคงในการยังชีพบนหลักอรรถประโยชน์ (rational subsistence security) และพันธะเชิงศีลธรรมในแบบเท่าเทียม (balancing moral obligation) อันแตกต่างจากบรรทัดฐานต่างตอบแทนในระบบอุปถัมภ์ เป็นลักษณะของ “เศรษฐกิจแบบศีลธรรมในสังคมชาวนาร่วมสมัย” (moral economy in contemporary peasant society) ในอีกทางหนึ่ง ชุมชนได้เปลี่ยนผ่านสู่สังคมหลังชาวนาที่ผสมผสานระหว่างความเป็นเมืองกับชนบท การมีอัตลักษณ์ที่หลากหลายและปรับเปลี่ยนตามเงื่อนไขทางเศรษฐกิจ สังคมและวัฒนธรรม ตลอดจนการแตกตัวและการเลื่อนชั้นทางเศรษฐกิจและสังคมของชาวบ้านกึ่งเมือง (rurban villagers)
