Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate decision making of students majoring in hotel business in pursuing higher education, and hotel business career. A questionnaire was used to collect data from students majoring in hotel business, Faculty of Management Sciences. The study found that most students were inspired by recommendation from parents as well as by image of the hotel profession, when selecting college education. The most attractive duty to students was the front office department in the resort hotel chain. However, opinion of the students in hotel profession changed. That was the interest in pursuing hotel profession declined with number of years in college. This was because of attitude in the profession and that students understood more on nature of hotel business. It was also found that students want to do further study in graduate study or to work in other professions.
