Information Accessibility for Self-Reliance of Persons with Deaf: A Case Study of Chonburi Province

This research is policy research and using qualitative research methodology and objectives were 1) to study existing in information accessibility for Self-Reliance of persons with deaf 2) to study problems and obstacles in information accessibility for Self-Reliance of persons with deaf 3) to study needs and methods into information accessibility for Self-Reliance of persons with deaf 4) in order to be the guidelines for policy and information accessibility for Self-Reliance of persons with deaf. The main target group in this research was persons with deaf who can use sign language or persons with deaf who can readable 20 persons and worked in Chonburi. The second target group in this research was sign language interpreter 10 persons. Research tools were semi-structured interview, focused group interview guidelines and code sheet, sound recorder, and cameras. Data were collected by indeptinterview, non-participant observed and focus group. Data were analyzed by using content analysis. The results of this research showed that existing in information accessibility for Self-Reliance of persons with deaf by members in family, persons with deaf, sign language interpreter, television, mobile phone, and internet. Problems and obstacles in information accessibility for Self-Reliance of persons with deaf were communication. Persons with deaf were not communicated to persons for understand his needs and less opportunity for shown efficiency of persons with deaf. Needs and methods into information accessibility for Self-Reliance of persons with deaf was sign language interpreter who can communicated between persons and persons with deaf, the second was need social understand persons with deaf ’s culture by shown face and body language, including opportunity from social to shown that persons with deaf had capacity efficiency and Self-Reliance.
