Restructuring of the Cooperative League of Thailand

The article was a part of the research of the restructuring of the Cooperative League of Thailand (CLT) were to 1) study and comparative analyze the roles, missions, structure and complexity of operation of the CLT and the Cooperative Federations in comparison of the present and the improved structure and 2) to provide recommendation as guidance in order to improve the roles, missions and structure of the CLT and the Cooperative Federations. The research used the mixed methods and the samples were selected from the people involved in the Thai cooperative movement. The findings of this research were as follows: 1) The roles, missions, structure and complexity of operation of the CLT and the federations were of overlapping work as well as lacking of integrated operation or cooperation among organizations. Due to lack of member’s faith and trust together with limited budget of CLT, it could not conduct any activities efficiently. 2) The suggestions for improving the roles, missions and structure of the CLT and the Cooperative Federations are; 1) the CLT should improve its role to be the leading cooperative institution which is emphasis on improved operational reliability for sustainable cooperative development, 2) CLT should act as an intermediary aiming to better improvement and development of cooperatives in the area of academic, international marketing, educational and public relation aspects efficiently and effectively.
