Employee Engagement: A Case Study of the Secretariat of Cabinet

This research are: 1) To study the employee engagement of the government officers. 2) To study the factors influnencing employee engagement of the government officers, including organization management, job characteristics, career development and individual development plan. 3) To study the ways encouraging employee engagement of the government officers. The samples consisted of 190 officers. The statistics used for analyzing the data. The results of the study are as follows: 1) The employee engagement of the government officers in the Secretariat of Cabinet was at the highest level. 2) The organization management factors (quality of life and organization environment) significantly influenced on employee engagement. 3) The job characteristics factors (challenge and optional Interaction) significantly influenced on employee engagement. 4) The career development factors (career path, challenging assignments and career develpoment workshop) significantly influenced on employee engagement. 5) The individual development plan factors (IDP policy and IDP component) significantly influenced on employee engagement. 6) It was found that the differences of personal factors, including gender, education, income, work expericence, position and sector gave some differences on employee engagement while age did not affect employee engagement, at the 0.05 level. 7) They define employee engagement in 2 components: work and people. 8) Executive should determine policies about encouraging operation interaction and teamwork, then implement seriously.
