Opinions of Adolescents on the Use of Social Media: A Case Study of Faculty of Social Sciences Students

The objectives of this research were to 1) study opinions of adolescents on the use of social media, 2) compare the opinions of adolescents on the use of social media, classified by personal factors and 3) compare the opinions of adolescents on the use of social media, classified by social media usage characteristics. The sample group used in this research was 360students from the Faculty of Social Sciences, Kasetsart University. Questionnaire was used as a tool to collect data then analyzed by using computer program. For the statistics used in data analysis consisted of percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test and One-Way ANOVA by determining the statistical significance level of 0.05
The research found that the sample group had overall high level of opinions and had high level of opinions in all aspects. When sorting from the highest to lowest means, it found that the sample group had the sample group had opinions on the use of social media at highest level in educational and entertainment part, followed by communication while they had lowest level of opinion on social part.
The results of the hypothesis testing of personal factors showed that the sample group who had studying in different college years, had opinions on social media usage differently with statistical significance at the level of 0.05 About social media usage characteristics, the research found that the sample group who had different objectives of social media using and data types chosen to receive from social media, had opinions on social media usage differently with statistical significance at the level of 0.05
