Abstract

The research “Political Thought in “One Piece” Manga by Eiichiro Oda” is one of the most well-known manga or animation in the world. The main purposes of this research are: 1. to study political thought through the characters in “One Piece.” 2. to analyze the author’s political thought in “One Piece.”

The research indicates that the author tries to convince the readers to think critically about various elements of politics. By emphasizing the fundamental concepts such as Liberalism, Socialism and Anarchism, these are the main concepts that shown thorough the main character “Luffy” and his crews. We can state that the author indicates mainly the idea of liberty, equality, brotherhood. Focusing on brotherhood corresponds with Socialism, the Luffy’s journey creates idea of freedom corresponds with Liberalism, denial of state power corresponds with Anarchism. In conclusion, the idea of equality is shown clearly through this manga.

Furthermore, the author indicates the political comparison in the real world both of country and international levels. This situation might happen possibly by using the rule of Dictatorship whether it be Coup d’état or conspired situation. With these plots convince the readers to analyze the fraudulent rule of the dominant rulers, not to be deceived by the false information.
