People’s Participation in the Development Plan of Strategic Plan of Municipalities in Nonthaburi Province

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to study: 1) the level of public participation in Nonthaburi Province. and 2) factors affecting the People’s Participation in the Formulation of Strategic Development Plan of. The samples used in this study were 384 eligible voters in the municipality, and 24 experts and municipal administrators. The tools used in the study were: questionnaire for quantitative research and In-depth interviews data were then analyzed by means, standard deviation and multiple regression analysis.

            The results were as follows: 1) Overall participation factors of the people in Nonthaburi Province were at a moderate level. Individually, it can be ranked from high to low as follows: personal factors, factors of awareness of benefits, community factors, organizational factors, and local commitment, respectively. 2) Overall strategic plan of the municipalities in Nonthaburi Province was at a high level. Individually, it can be ranked from high to low as follows: strategy implementation, strategy formulation, strategy assessment, environmental analysis, and strategy control. 3) Public Participation Factors in Strategic Planning of Municipality. Nonthaburi Predictability of participation by 75.60 % 4) The hypothesis testing found that the personal factors in the community, the municipality, the awareness of the benefits and the commitment to the local influence the participation of the people in the formulation of the municipal strategic plan in Nonthaburi at statistical significance level of 0.05
