Abstract

   The Book of Poetry is China's first collection of poetry, documenting the lives of China's ancestors and providing future generations with a wealth of reference materials on diet. This paper aims to analyze the food culture and etiquette in the Book of Poetry, and try to understand the function and value of food culture in Zhou Dynasty society. This paper adopts the empirical method and literature research method, By summarizing the poems containing food culture in the entire work of the Book of Poetry, Comprehensive analysis of the role of diet in different classes and different occasions. The results of the study show that the types of diet in the Book of Poetry can be divided into grain types, vegetables and fruits, meat types, and wine types. The ways in which food is often described are roast, barbecue, cannon, and bake. Reflecting the role of "etiquette" embodied in food culture in different occasions, It has produced a change in people's lives, as well as normal eating rules, and the formation of healthy eating habits. The study of food culture in the Book of Poetry is more conducive to understanding the living conditions of the people during the Zhou Dynasty.
