A Development of a Training Curriculum on the Topic Entitled “Managing Humidity Tray Gardens,” Career Learning Strand Group, for Grade 6 Students

Abstract

This research aimed to 1) develop a training curriculum on the topic entitled, “Managing Humidity Tray Gardens,” Career Learning Strand Group, for grade 6 students and 2) evaluate the implementation of the training curriculum. The sample, selected by simple random sampling, consisted of a classroom of 30 6^th graders from Wat Tao Pun School, under Saraburi Primary Educational Service Area Office, Region 2, during the academic year 2018, The research instruments included 1) a training course, 2) an achievement test with a reliability value of 0.679, 3) a practice skills assessment form, and 4) a satisfaction measurement form.  Data were analyzed in terms of mean, standard deviation and t-test. Findings were as follows: 1) The training curriculum comprised the following components: (1) principles, (2) objectives, (3) contents, (4) curriculum structure, (5) training activities, (6) learning media, (7) measurement and evaluation, (8) training duration, (9) training plans, (10) supplementary training documents.  The training curriculum, assessed by experts, was found to be appropriate for training. 2) The evaluation of the implementation of the training curriculum revealed that: (1) The students’ learning achievement after the training was significantly higher than that before the training (p<.05).  (2)  Overall, the students’ practical skills on managing humidity tray gardens were at a very high level, and their satisfaction towards the training curriculum was at a high level.
