The Curriculum Development Entitled Bamboo Shoot Carving for Secondary School Students, Doembangnangbuch District, Suphanburi Province

Abstract

This research was aimed to: 1) develop the Bamboo Shoot Carving Course for Secondary School Students, Doembangnangbuch District, Suphanburi Province. 2) evaluate using the curriculum entitled Bamboo Shoot Carving for Secondary Students, Doembangnangbuch District, Suphanburi Province. The research sample, selected by cluster random sampling, was 24 students from Watpaknam School, Suphanburi Province, under the jurisdiction of the Suphanburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 3, during the first semester of the academic year 2017. The research instruments were: 1) the Bamboo Shoot Carving Course for Secondary School Students in Doembangnangbuch District, Suphanburi Province. 2) Achievement test in bamboo carving with a reliability value of 0.839 3) Evaluation of bamboo shoot carving skills 4) a questionnaire on satisfaction towards the bamboo shoot carving. Data were analyzed in terms of percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test.
The results were as follows: 1. The result of the curriculum development entitled Bamboo Shoot Carving for Secondary Students, Doembangnangbuch District, Suphanburi Province revealed that this research used the period of time for 4 weeks, 2 days and 2 hours a day. It’s consisted of principles, objectives, structure, scope of content, studying time, activity management guideline, studying media and measurement, evaluation and lesson plans according to the learning process of the curriculum development theory and related researches. The evaluation of Index of Item-Objective Congruence by the five experts was 1.00. 2. The results of evaluation and curriculum improvement, it was found that students’ bamboo shoot carving knowledge after developing the Bamboo Carving Course for Secondary School Students, Doembangnangbuch District, Suphanburi Province were significantly higher than those before using them (p<.01) and also considered as ‘good’, students’ bamboo shoot carving skills was 4.31 on mean scale. The students’ satisfaction towards the Bamboo Shoot Carving Course was at 4.78 which is highest level.
