The Situation of Online Learning Management during the COVID-19 Pandemic of Foreign Languages Department Teachers at Pakphanang School in Nakhon Si Thammmarat Province

Abstract

Due to Thailand had found the new wave of COVID-19 Pandemic at the end of 2020, school closure was mandated in order to avoid spreading of the virus. Additionally, online classes were arranged depending on the convenience of teachers and students. The objectives of this study were 1) to explore applications used for online learning during the COVID-19 Pandemic of foreign languages department teachers and 2) to inquire the barriers teachers faced in integrating technology into the online learning of students at Pakphanang School, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province which was for teaching and learning during lockdown. The research samples were 17 teachers from foreign languages department at Pakphanang School, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The researcher used an exploratory descriptive approach through a questionnaire.

The results indicated that LINE Application was used by 88.23% of the respondents and 23.53 % found that the teachers used Google Meet. Moreover, the barriers the teachers faced from the students during online classes were the Internet issue and electronic devices that mostly found, financial obstacle, time management and self-discipline. Furthermore, some of the students had to help their families to work. The researcher presents to reveal these barriers and overcome unexpected or similar issues in the future.
