Participation of People in Development of Sufficiency Economy Village in Ban Bang Bao, Phunphin District, Surat Thani Province

Abstract

This academic paper aims to study the participation and participative level, problems and obstacles as well as solutions for problems and obstacles of participation of people in development of sufficiency economy village in Ban Bang Bao, Phunphin District, Surat Thani Province. The research applies the mixed methods of quantitative and qualitative research.

The study found that the overall problems included participative decision, raising existing problem in community, planning and processes, participative working, insufficient publicizing information of development plan of sufficiency economy village, participation, insufficient receipt of benefits from development of sufficiency economy village and participative assessment and narrow participative assessment of people. All aspects were at the middle level.   

Accordingly, firstly, Ban Bang Bao sufficiency economy village should be improved and developed in terms of participative decision. People should raise existing problem in community as well as complete planning and processes. Secondly, in terms of participative operation, publicizing information of development plan of sufficiency economy should be performed widely. Thirdly, in terms of receipt of benefits from events of development of sufficiency economy village, people should receive benefits from development of sufficiency economy village sufficiently. Fourthly, in terms of participative assessment, people should participate in monitoring the operation widely.
