This research was conducted in Mueang Sisaket District, Sisaket Province. The objectives of this study were to study concepts and theories concerning the food truck business and laws governing the condition of vehicle and food hygiene and draw up guidelines for solving problems of the laws governing the condition of vehicle and food hygiene to ensure the business operators comply with them effectively to become a city of tourism.
The study found that the vehicle law failed to specifically define a mobile food truck as well as modifying the condition of vehicle. The law mentioned the modification of vehicle’s exterior only but failed to cover modification to the interior. As for the commercial registration, the law only governed peddlers and stalls but failed to cover mobile food trucks and specify whether a relevant official’s permission was required before parking a food truck for selling food. Food hygiene-related regulations governed general food but failed to provide specific control over the food hygiene of the food trucks.
Therefore, to ensure the food truck business meet the standards, the vehicle laws should be amended by adding a definition of the term “Mobile Food Truck” and adding the modification details of the truck’s interior. As for the commercial registration, a definition of the term “Mobile Food Truck” should be specified for correct registration. Regarding the parking place, the relevant government agency should issue an ordinance on permission of mobile food truck. Furthermore, a ministerial regulation should be issued specifically for mobile food truck to ensure its food meet the quality or standard which lead to become the city of tourism.
