AI Usage Policy
Effective October 1, 2026, Mahidol Music Journal (MMJ) will apply its AI Usage Policy to all manuscripts submitted to the journal. The policy establishes guidelines for the responsible use of Generative AI in manuscript preparation and aims to ensure transparency, research integrity, and accountability in scholarly publishing.
Generative AI may be used only for language improvement and proofreading. AI tools must not be used to generate or develop the substantive content of a manuscript, conduct data analysis, interpret research findings, or replace the authors’ scholarly judgment. AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and validity of their manuscripts.
AI use that requires disclosure:
The use of Generative AI tools to rewrite sentences, generate new text, substantially modify content, or translate a manuscript from one language to another must be disclosed, even when these functions are presented as proofreading or language-editing features.
AI use that does not require disclosure:
Non-generative tools used solely to identify or correct basic grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors do not require disclosure.
