Abstract

This article discusses changing consumer behaviours in the digital age as well as the
increasing use of social media in society. In response to the changing landscape, many libraries
have adopted social media as a tool to improve operations and encourage clients to become
more actively engaged with online and offline library programs via social media channels.
It is crucial that librarians and executives who are responsible for managing library social media
tools and channels must conduct extensive research in order to understand consumer
behaviours in this ever-changing digital era. The article also proposes three strategies for
increasing library social media usage, which are as follows 1) Having a solid understanding of
the library and its target groups 2) Creating interesting content via humorous, entertaining, and
engaging content, as well as responding to customer feedback in a timely and consistent
manner, and 3) Implementation of robust and clear social media management policies.
Keywords: Social media, User engagement, Library, Digital age.
