Creating a Set of Instructions in Chords for Beginning Pianists; a Case Study at the LampangMusicHouse School, Lampang

Abstract

   The goals of this research were: to design a course for teaching chords to beginning piano students; to study the efficiency of the instruction materials; and to study the satisfaction of the students using these materials. The students in this study were ten short-term vocational curriculum students at the LampangMusicHouse School. Five students from the sample group were chosen by selective criteria such as these students must have previously qualified in the short-term primary piano curriculum at the LampangMusicHouse School. The tools used in this study included 1. a set of lessons about chords, 2. tests given during and after the course, and 3. a questionnaire given to the students to measure their satisfaction with the course. Data was analyzed by using percentage, mean and standard deviation.
   The findings were as follows: 1. the results of the course were in accord with the proposed hypothesis, having an achievement of 84.42 / 85.00; and 2. the student satisfaction was high: = 4.13 and S.D. = 0.63.
