Main Article Content
บทคัดย่อ
This study aims to conduct a comparative analysis of the English and Thai writing abilities of undergraduate students majoring in English-related programs. The collected data consists of the test papers written by the population of 100 students. This research highlights both differences and similarities found in writing skill between English and Thai test papers with respect to writing skill characteristics. Comparing essay and composition writing, the latter is with the lower score in this study. Moreover, the most observable finding in this study is syntax with the lowest rate characteristics for writing composition, either in English or Thai, across the employed sample. In conclusion, the findings of this study indicate that the students exhibit weaknesses in the syntactic aspects of English writing, which may be due to the educational planning or policies of their basic education providers or the related education provider center in which they are enrolled.
