The Development of Training Course Curriculum in Rearing Children from 0 to 3 Years Old Children in the Christian Way for Teenage Red Lahu Moms in Chaing Mai Province

Abstract

  The objective of research was to develop training course in rearing children from 0 to 3 years old in the Christian Way for Teenage Red Lahu Moms in Chiang Mai Province. The research processes were divided into three stages. The first state was to study the primary data. Second state was to draft the training course. And last state was to test the effectiveness of the training course. The population in the first state was 53 Red Lahu teenage moms who were interviewed about Christian state and rearing children aged 0 to 3 years old in the Christian way in Chiang Mai Province. The data was analyzed by percentages, mean and standard deviations. Moreover, the targeted groups in the third state were divided into two groups included the experiment which were 10 Red Lahu teenage moms living in Huay Buak Hmu Village, Chaiprakarn District, Chiang Mai Province; and the control which were nine Red Lahu teenage moms living in Ban Huay Sai and Ban Tung Dang, Prao District, Chiang Mai. The treatment in this research was the training course in rearing children aged 0 to 3 years old in the Christian way for Red Lahu teenage moms in Chiang Mai Province. The evaluation of knowledge, understanding, and skills in rearing children aged 0 to 3 years old in the Christian way was conducted before and after the training for comparing the difference, and satisfaction in training course was also rated. The results were as follows.
   Red Lahu teenage moms in Chiang Mai Province were less participation in Christianity that affected to less knowledge, understanding, and ability in rearing children in the Christian way. The patterns in rearing children in the Christian way combined with five principles and four methods. The five principles included following bible in rearing children, concerning in the role and main duty of parents, love as the center point, understanding development and natural sin of children, and targeting development of children in holistic way. Next, the four methods were practicing, warning, reproving and rectifying in the Christian way.
   This training course consisted of four lessons: child rearing in Christian way, the principle of child rearing training in Christian way, methods of child rearing training in Christian way, and training course in rearing children in Christian way. Therefore, the curriculum comprised with 15 activities. Evaluation of the curriculum by the experts revealed that each component of the course was high consistency and high optimum. Once trial showed that mean score of posttest of the experimental group was higher than mean score of the pretest and mean score of the self-learning control group at the 0.05 significant levels. Additionally, the experimental group was also satisfied with the curriculum in the overall at 4.29 that considered as high level.
