The Development of Teacher Competency Teaching Model for Student Self Creative Knowledge in Basic Schools, Phayao Province

Abstract

   This research aims to study the current state and problems of teaching for student self creative knowledge, to develop the teaching competency model for teacher to emphasize on student self creative knowledge in basic schools, Phayao Province, and to evaluate the teaching competency model. The study included three phases. The first phase was to survey the current state and problems of teaching for student self creative knowledge from the population which were 1000 teachers and administrators of 18 schools, and to draw out the teaching competency model for teacher. The second phase was to develop the teaching competency model for teacher by systhesis of approaches and theories from the related documents and research, and to assess its appropriatedness by 20 acedemic supervisors and scholars. The third phase was to evaluation of the teaching competency model for teacher to emphasize on student self creative knowledge by 180 teachers and students of 18 schools. Data was colleted by questioniers and analyzed by Median, Interquatile Range, Mean, and Standard Deviation. The results were as follows. 1) The current state and problems of teaching for student self creative knowledge was divided into five dimensions: curriculum analysis, instructional design, lesson plans writing, learning activities, and measurement and evaluation. In addition, the problems in teaching were reveal the problem of the differences between students, students’ lack of the skills, and lack of linking between learning groups. Furthermore, there were problems of teacher’s lack of teaching skill, techniques, and process, and also the problem of discontinuity of teaching. Most important, learning that emphasizes on student self creative knowledge would not only success by the teacher, but knowledge would exit in student and also be created by student themselve. Therefore, the learning would be better in case of learning by doing. 2) The teaching competency model for teacher to emphasize on student self creative knowledge in basic schools, Phayao Province was developed comprised of four components: principle, objectives, teaching and learning process, and teaching and learning in the classroom. The supplement material was the manual of teaching competency model for teacher to emphasize on student self creative knowledge. 3) The evaluation results showed that the teachers who used the teaching competency model for teacher to emphasize on student self creative knowledge got the mean scores in curriculum analysis, instructional design, lesson plans writing, learning activities, and measurement and evaluation higher than the teachers who used the general teaching model with .05 statistically significant difference and so was the normal study. The opinion of students toward activities that focused on teaching students to construct knowledge for themselves, the findings were confirmed that those activities allowed the students to discover signification and new knowledge by themselves through research, experiment, knowledge sharing, and real practice. Last but not least, the launching model caused students love reading, love research, and create skills in finding the knowledge.
