CONFIRMATORY FACTOR ANALYSIS OF POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGICAL CAPITAL IN UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

This study aimed to investigate the positive psychological capital of undergraduate students using confirmatory factor analysis. Participants were 400 undergraduates in Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, Bangkok Metropolis. Their was age range between 18 - 23 years old were randomly selected by Multi-Stage Random Sampling. Instruments were the Positive Psychological Capital Scale developed from Patcharaporn Sisawad’s Positive Psychological Capital Scale. The discrimination and the validity of the scale were 59-93 and .98 respectively.
Findings showed that the model was valid and well-fitted the empirical data ( X2= 500.32, df = 514, p-value = 0.659, GFI = 0.940, AGFI = 0.908, RMSEA = 0.000, SRMR = 0.035) This model consisted of 4 factors : Hope, Optimism, Self-efficacy and Resilience. The results also exhibits moderate positive psychological capital in undergrad students (= 3.41 , SD = 0.42) considering in each category, results showed high level of positive psychological capital in the Hope (
= 3.63); the Optimism (
= 3.59); while the Self-efficacy and the Resilience was found moderate level (
= 3.18 and
= 3.23) Suggestions for this study was to develop the program for enhancing positive psychological capital of undergrad students to meet the appropriate level for everyday living.
