FAMILY SUPPORT FOR ELDERLY IN THAILAND

Population aging is a worldwide phenomenon occurring this decade.The growth of urban communities and economic changes result in changes in lifestyles. Work migration caused the social structure.The nature of extended families that live together for many people has changed to nuclear families; consisting of only parents and children. Less family activities As a result, the elderly have to live alone. Family relationships deteriorate, lack of care and attention from children and families in terms of physical, mental, emotional, social and economic aspects.
The family is considered the main and important support system to response the needs of the elderly in their daily lives. Create good relationships between each other in the family will make the elderly truly happy and also be an expression of love and emotional attachment for the children. It is also an opportunity for the children to support and care for the elderly based on gratitude. Therefore, the government should give importance to and encourage families and all sectors to work together to seriously care for the elderly on an ongoing basis.
