Violent Behavior in Media Usage among Children and Youth in Chiang Rai Province

Abstract

This research article aims to 1) survey students' media use behaviors; 2) test students' social media violence behavior and media information literacy behavior. The research was launched by collecting quantitative data using questionnaires from 3target schools in Chiang Rai Province, 200 students per school, totaling 600 students. The results showed that most of the students are female [Thai-Yuan and Khon Muang] study in Grade 10, live with parents or with relatives. Their parents were trade/personal business and contractor. In their free time, they usually listen to music, watch movies or TV such as adventure movies, enjoy fighting games and often play on YouTube. They also use social media to chat with friends to study and and studying most students have not experienced cyberbullying on social media. Almost students never committed/execrate bullying and social media execration. The social media awareness behaviors are read the news from social media carefully and the tests found significantly that cyber bullying execration depends on parents' occupation. Social media libeling depends on the type of game that they play of the parents at the 0.05 level of statistical significance.
