Thai Phuan-Soft Power: Thai Puan cultural tourism in Thailand

Abstract

In order to develop cultural heritage within the framework of multiculturalism in Thailand, the study's main goal was to provide a summary of the identity and uniqueness culture of Thai Puan. Ten topics or sections were used to outline the study of Thai-Puan cultural legacies in order to to enhance Thailand image through Thai arts and culture. Among the topics covered are: 1) the history of the Thai-Puan ethnic group; 2) the way of life of the Thai-Puan ethnic group; 3) Thai Puan occupation; 4) the identity of Thai Puan Buddhists; 5) Thai Puan beliefs and traditions; 6) Sart Puan (Thai Puan beliefs and mysteries on ways of life) 7) Thai Puan arts; 8) Thai-Puan dining style; 9) Thai Puan aesthetics; and 10) Thai Puan costumes. In the study, twenty cultural tourists in tourist attractions of Thai Puan culture were interviewed based on the concept of Soft Power 4A 2R Model It was found that for the cultural heritage restoration and creation of value in preserving Thai Puan cultural heritage.


The tourists believed that Agenda (A1) of all 10 topics or sections clearly demonstrated Thai Puan uniqueness and cultural identity, but for Actor (A2) and Action (A4), it was found that cooperation, support, and management to achieve goals were not sufficient in the implementation due to an insufficient target group. For Asset (A3), it was found that there was a clearer presentation of the charm of Thai Puan culture, while for Reaction (R1), it was found that there was little awakening in and monitoring of soft power. For Result (R2), it was found that there was still a lack of clarity in targeting response results. By allowing different sectors to jointly creates policies, support, promote, and concentrate on the conservation of that cultural heritage. So, it does not vanish, and it was suggested to be support for the investigation of distinctiveness and valuable cultural identities that are gradually vanishing. Guidelines for the appropriate creation of relevant media or videos should also be suggested.
