AN ANALYTICAL STUDY OF BELIEFS ON GODS (PHRAPHUMI)OF THAI BUDDHISTS IN KHLONG HAE SUB – DISTRICT HATYAI DISTRICT, SONGKHLA PROVINCE

Abstract

This research study the objectives are as follows: 1)To study the history of Thai Buddhist beliefs on Buddhist teachings.2) To study the beliefs about the Gods (PHRAPHUMI) of Thai Buddhists in Khlong Hae Sub-district, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province. 3) To study new patterns and knowledge about the beliefs about the Gods (PHRAPHUMI) of Thai Buddhists in Khlong Hae Sub-district, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province. this research was qualitative research from analysis of documents and interviews. Information groups are Thai Buddhists in Klong Hae Subdistrict, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, which has a belief in the story of the Gods (PHRAPHUMI) of the number of 10 people selected specifically, using an analytical study process to contribute to the integration and creation of new knowledge.

          The research found that:

1. The history of Buddhist belief affected to the principle of Buddhism such as 1) Now Buddhists belief in future world 2) Making merit to a person who pass away 3) Belief in superstition and 4) law of Karma (law of action)
2. The beliefs about the Gods (PHRAPHUMI) of Thai Buddhists in Khlong Hae Sub-district, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province such as 1) faith 2) law of Karma and 3)merit
3. To study the new forms and knowledge about beliefs about the Gods (PHRAPHUMI), the belief that according to the Buddhist view, there are 2 types: 1) “ThitachuKarma” was believe in reason and 2) “Apajayana” mean believe because look up with great respect
