GUDELINES FOR ENHANCING THE KALAYANAMITTA PRINCIPLES FOR STUDENTS IN BACHELOR OF EDUCATION PROGRAM AT SURINDRA RAJABHAT UNIVERSITY

Abstract

                The aims of this qualitative research were: 1) to study the principles of Kalayanamitta - dhamma (kalyānamitta - dhamma), qualities of a good friend in Buddhism, 2) to study the general conditions of the students majoring in social studies at Surindra Rajabhat University, and 3) to study the ways to enhance  the principles of Kalayanamitta Principles to the students in Bachelor of Education Program at Surindra Rajabhat University. The instrument for research was an in-depth interview tested by the validity content from the scholars  the CVI value was 0.86. There were 50 informants consisted of 5 administrators, 5 monks, 17 lecturers/scholars in curriculum and 23 students in Bachelor of Education Program. The data were analyzed by content analysis. The results of the study were as follows: 1) The Kalalayanamitta Principles consists of being lovable, being respectable, being adorable, being a counsellor, being a patient listener, being ability to deliver deep discourses and never exhorting groundlessly. 2) The students in the Bachelor of Education Program have studied according to the curriculum of Education Program in Social Studies. They have studied in various ways in both theoretical and practical parts. 3) The ways to enhance Kalalayanamitta Principles to the students consisted of 3.1) enhancing to train according to the Buddhism by training in the Buddhist temple or Dharma practice center for 7 days etc., 3.2) learning and teaching integrating Kalalayanamitta Principles in Education Program, integrating in all subjects in lecturing, group discussion, presentation in front of the class and being real practical, 3.3) taking extra curriculum package such as activities for fulfilling good deed in Buddhism etc. and 3.4) enhancing environmental inspiration, having good model from good person model, admiration best alumnus students, making environment supporting to enhance the intelligence.
