DEVELOPMENT OF AN INSTRUCTIONAL MODEL BASED ON RESOURCE-BASED LEARNING WITH GENRE-BASED APPROACH TO ENHANCE ACADEMIC WRITING ABILITY OF UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

The objectives of this research article were to 1) develop an instructional model based on resource-based learning with genre-based approach to enhance the academic writing ability of undergraduate students 2) study the effectiveness of an instructional model based on resource-based learning with genre-based approach to enhance academic writing ability of undergraduate students. The development of an instructional model consisted of 3 phrases. Phrase 1 synthesizes approaches and theories which are related to the instructional model. Phase 2 was to draft the instructional model, and Phase 3 was to study the effectiveness of the instructional model. The subjects of this study were five experts in the Thai language and Thai language curriculum and instruction. The instrument in this study was the evaluation form for the appropriateness of the instructional model. The statistics used for data analysis are mean and standard deviation. The finding revealed that the instructional model had four components which were 1) principle 2) objective 3) steps of instructional model comprised six steps which were 3.1) selecting the topic 3.2) planning the gather information 3.3) searching the information 3.4) evaluating and selecting the information 3.5) analyzing the genre 3.6) developing the complete writing and 4) evaluation. And the effectiveness of the instructional model showed that it was effective at the highest level ( = 4.71, S.D. = 0.45)
