MODEL FOR EMPOWERMENT OF BAN SANG AROON COCONUT PROCESSING GROUP COMMUNITY ENTERPRISE, THAP SAKAE DISTRICT, PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN PROVINCE

Abstract

          The objectives of this research article were to: 1) study the empowerment potential, 2) create a model for empowerment, and 3) assess the model for empowerment of Ban Sang Aroon coconut processing group community enterprise, Thap Sakae District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. The mixed research methodology was applied in this study. For qualitative study, the structured in-depth interview was used for collecting data from 14 key informants, selected by using purposive sampling method, consisting of provincial development executives, district agriculture executives, the chairman of Community Enterprise Group, the chairman of Thap Sakae Coconut Development Community Enterprise Group, and community leaders related to community enterprises. The data were analyzed by content analysis. For the quantitative study, the questionnaire was used for collecting data from 400 people, selected by using accidental sampling method. The data were analyzed by using mean, and standard deviation. The research findings were as follows: 1) the empowerment potential the quantitative was overall at a low level, and the qualitative results revealed that in accounting and finance aspect, members still lacked knowledge in accounting, and accounting was not systematic, in marketing aspect, there should be promotion by creating brochures/publicity sheet to provide information about products and packaging, in management aspect, community enterprise groups were established by the members' self-aggregation and raw materials within the province were used, and in production aspect, there should be modification, improvement, and patterns of types of coconut products, 2) the model for empowerment of Ban Saeng Aroon coconut processing group community enterprise could be synthesized into the form of “LSP-Net Model” consisting of Leadership: L, Social relationship : S, Promotion of continuous learning: P, and Networking: N, and 3) the result of assessment of the model for empowerment of coconut processing group community enterprise was overall at a high level.
