Abstract

The objectives of this research article were to study the condition of musical instruments and how to maintain musical instruments in Secondary School Bands, In the Northeast Thailand. Use qualitative research methods; from studying academic papers and related research, in-depth interviews from Key informants were teachers of 5 person and 10 students, totaling 15 people using a specific selection method from the provincial secondary schools in the Northeast, totaling 5 schools that have a Secondary School Bands and used to compete in national competitions. Data were analyzed by the descriptive analysis method. The results of the research were as follows: 1) The condition of the instruments in the secondary school band, high school students in the Northeast region There are four schools in the orchestra that the instruments are relatively old and used for the teaching of approximately 9-10 years, some of the instruments are damaged and cannot be used. Must be collected to wait for delivery to a qualified technician for inspection and repair. And found a lack of budget for repairs Including the budget for purchasing new musical instruments to replace the old, damaged instruments. There is only one school where the instrument is relatively new. 2) There are 4 schools with inaccurate maintenance of the instrument and only 1 school that has the correct maintenance of the instrument. The process of maintaining musical instruments in the Secondary School Bands was very important Because it will make the instrument have a new condition Complete and ready to use in teaching, playing, and competition. It also helps to save the budget for purchasing new.
