Abstract

The objectives of this research article were to develop a cerebrovascular disease prevention model of elderly by community-based in the 4th regional health. This conceptual framework was applied with the social ecology theory. There were three phases: 1) Situation analysis, elderly 400 persons answered the questionnaires, and the informants, 20 community leaders, and 20 health network members, were in-depth interviewed. After that, there were meetings with the community to develop the model using collected data from stakeholders. 2) Model development and testing, the model consisted of seven activities. The concept of 5 "OR" and 2 "SO"; was developed by the Ministry of Public Health. The experimental group was 40 elderly, and the control group was 40 elderly. 3) Model evaluation and measure the outcome in the 10th and 12th weeks. Action research was applied in the experimentation. Data analysis used One-way and Two-way repeated measure ANOVA and MANOVA. The result found that after 12 weeks, the experimental group had better knowledge about cerebrovascular disease and cerebrovascular disease prevention behaviors in drug adherence, which were significantly different from the control group (p < 0.01). The sampled elderly expressed their high satisfaction with the activities implemented (gif.latex?\bar{x} = 2.850, S.D. = 0.361). The community had increasing awareness and was involved proactively. In addition, it should be continued to study the health promotion behavior model for stroke risk people and use sustainable management in the community.
