Manuscript Review and Publication Process and Target Timelines
Posted on 2026-10-20The Journal of Science and Science Education (JSSE) would like to inform authors of its manuscript review and publication process and the target timeline for each stage. Authors are encouraged to plan their submissions in accordance with the following procedures.
1. Manuscript Review and Publication Process-
Submission and Pre-assessment
The editorial team screens each submission for journal scope, completeness, preliminary quality, formatting, and research ethics requirements. The target timeframe for pre-assessment is approximately 3–7 business days. If preliminary revisions are requested, authors are expected to revise and resubmit within the period specified by the journal, with a target timeframe of approximately 7–14 days. -
Publication Fee Payment
Authors are required to pay the applicable publication fee after passing the pre-assessment stage and completing any required preliminary revisions. Payment does not guarantee acceptance of the manuscript. -
Peer Review
Each manuscript is evaluated by at least three reviewers. The target timeframe for the first round of peer review is approximately 1-2 months, some case may take more than 2 months. There are four possible review outcomes:-
Accept: The editor checks the review outcome before the manuscript proceeds to Final Review.
-
Minor Revision: Authors must revise and resubmit the manuscript within 30 days. The editor then checks the revisions before the manuscript proceeds to Final Review.
-
Major Revision: Authors must revise and resubmit the manuscript within 60 days. The revised manuscript is then sent for the next round of peer review, with a target timeframe of approximately 1 month per round. If the outcome remains Major Revision, authors must revise and resubmit the manuscript for further review. This cycle continues until the outcome is Accept or Minor Revision, or the manuscript is rejected.
-
Reject: The manuscript review process ends.
In the second and subsequent rounds of peer review, all four outcomes remain possible: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject. Manuscripts receiving an Accept decision, or completing the required revisions under Minor Revision, must undergo editorial checking before proceeding to Final Review.

Editorial Checking and Final Review
The editor checks the review outcomes and the completeness of the revisions before the manuscript proceeds to Final Review. Final Review examines the accuracy and consistency of the manuscript, references, and formatting. The target timeframe is approximately 1–2 weeks. -
Formal Acceptance Letter
An official acceptance letter will be issued only after the manuscript has successfully completed the required evaluation and editorial checks. -
Copyediting and Author Proof
The manuscript undergoes language editing, formatting checks, and author proofing. The target timeframe is approximately 1–2 weeks. -
Production and Publication
The journal prepares the final publication files, verifies the article information, and publishes the article through ThaiJO. The target timeframe is approximately 1–2 weeks.
The stated timelines are targets for individual stages and do not constitute a guarantee of the total processing time, acceptance date, or publication date. Actual processing times may vary depending on reviewer availability, manuscript complexity, and the time authors require to complete revisions.
All stages of the manuscript review and publication process must be completed in the prescribed order and in accordance with the journal’s standards. No stage may be skipped, and no time necessary for quality assessment and verification may be shortened as a special exception. Authors should therefore plan their submissions in accordance with the journal’s established procedures.
Authors who urgently require an acceptance decision or publication by a specific deadline are advised to consider another journal whose schedule better meets their needs.
JSSE appreciates the interest of all authors who submit their work for consideration and thanks them for their understanding and cooperation in upholding the journal’s manuscript evaluation standards.
