A Comparison of Mathematics Learning Achievement on Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division of Fractions Using TGT Cooperative Learning for Grade 5 Students

Abstract
The objectives of this research were 1) to compare mathematics learning achievement on the topic of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of fractions for Grade 5 students using the Team-Games-Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning technique against the 70 percent criterion; 2) to compare mathematics learning achievement before and after the implementation of the TGT cooperative learning technique; and 3) to study Grade 5 students’ satisfaction toward the learning management. The sample group consisted of 36 Grade 5 students from Ban Buakhaw School (Wunkru 2500), BuaKhao Subdistrict, Kuchinarai District, Kalasin Province, during the first semester of the 2025 academic year, selected via cluster random sampling. The research instruments used were lesson plans, a learning achievement test, and a satisfaction questionnaire. The statistics used for data analysis included percentage, mean, standard deviation, and t-test. The research results revealed that: 1) The learning achievement on addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of fractions after using the TGT cooperative learning technique was higher than the determined criterion; 2) the learning achievement on addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of fractions using the TGT cooperative learning technique was significantly higher than before learning at the .05 level; and 3) the students’ satisfaction toward the learning management was at a high level ( = 4.42, = 0.77).
