JSSE Publication Ethics

Duties of Authors
1. The authors should ensure that the work submitted is novel and has never been published anywhwere.
2. The content of the article must comply with the objective of the journal and ensure that the article is entirely original works.
3. The auther must report the fact arising from research, distorting or providing false information is strictly prohibited.
4. Article must be written correctly in the format specified in "Advice for authors".
5. The article format and font size must be adjusted according to the journal's template.
6. All authors whose names appear in the article must be a person who is involved in conducting the actual research.
7. Proper acknowledgment of the work must always be given if the authors have used the work and/or words of others. References list must also be given at the end of the article.
8. The authurs must ensure that format and content of the references list is written correctly.

Duties of Editors
1. Editors are responsible for determining the quality of the article for publication in journals and will not publish articles that have been published elsewhere.
2. Must not disclose the information of the authors and the reviewers to other unrelated parties during the period of articles evaluation.
3. Editors have the duty to consider publishing the articles with the correct research methodology, credibility, importance, novelty, clarity and in accordance with the journal policy by using the research results as a guideline.
4. Rejecting publications must not be on the grounds of mere suspicion or doubt. Clear evidence must be established and the authors must be notified prior to the rejection.
5. Must not have conflicts of interest with authors and reviewers.
6. There must be a rigorous review of plagiarism of articles using reliable programs.
7. When plagiarism is detected, the evaluation process must be stopped immediatly. Editors must contact the authors for explanation in consideration of accepting or rejecting the publication of that article. The editors can proceed to withdraw the article without the consent of the authors, which is considered as the rights and responsibilities of the editors to the articles.

Duties of Reviewers
1. Reviewers must keep confidentiality and not disclose any or all of the content of the submitted article to unrelated parties during the review period.
2. When article is recieved from the editor and realize that reviewer may have conflicts of interest with the author such as being a project participant, know the author personally, or other reasons which makes it impossible to freely give comments and suggestions, reviewers should inform the editor and reject to review that article.
3. Reviewers should review the article in the field of expertise by considering the importance and quality of work. Do not use unevidenced personal opinions as a basis for judging the article.
4. In the case that the article being considered has any part that is identical or duplicated with other works, reviewers must notify the editors immediately.

Human Research Ethics or Animal Research Ethics

The JSSE would like to announce that the author(s) have to provide the Human/Animal Research Ethics or Animal Research Ethics approval along with the manuscript regarding research in human or animals from JSSE Vol. 8 No.1 (2025) onwards.

From JSSE Vol. 8 No.1 (2025) onwards, the author(s) must provide information regarding Human/Animal Research Ethics or Animal Research Ethics approval including ID of approval (if applicable), or explain research procedure to illustrate that this research follow haman/animal research ethics, i.e., respect for person, beneficence, and justice.

The JSSE's Research Ethics Policy has been changed regarding all manuscripts involving research in human or animal as follows:

1. IRB approval of research ethics in human/animal is not required: Any article that won't be used for student graduation or acquiring academic positions.
   • Classroom action research article by undergraduate students: The confirmation document from an advisor or a program director is sufficient.
   • Independent study (IS) article by graduate students: The confirmation document from an IS advisor or a program director is sufficient.
2. IRB approval of Research ethics in human/animal is required: Any article that will be used for acquiring academic positions (both faculty members and school teachers).
3. Optional based on JSSE editorial board decision: Any article that will be used for student graduation. The JSSE editorial board will examine if the IRB approval is required or not.

In addition, the Editorial team, author(s), and reviewers must strictly follow the Personal Data Protection Act, 2562 BE.
