SUCCESS FACTORS OF SEPAK TAKRAW WOMEN TEAM IN THE COMPETITION OF UNIVERSITY GAMES OF THAILAND

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to 1) investigate the success factors of the women's sepak takraw team in the competition of the University Games of Thailand and 2) analyze the factor analysis of these success factors. In the first phase of the study, a qualitative investigation was conducted. Data were collected through structured in-depth interviews with 11 key informants and analyzed qualitatively using content analysis by describing the data inductively and using a triangular method. The second phase was a quantitative study. Data were collected by questionnaire from a sample of 260 people and analyzed by descriptive statistics, namely percentage, mean, standard deviation, and inferential statistics with Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and rotation with Varimax method.

          The results of the study were as follows: 1) The findings of the qualitative analysis indicated five key success factors for the women's sepak


takraw team: (1) athlete potential factors; (2) policy and support factors;
(3) sports psychology factors; (4) team organization and management factors; and (5) tools and facilitation factors. All of these factors reflect the successful approach of training and competing in women's sepak takraw in Thailand, which could be developed in a total of 26 questions and 2) According to the exploratory factor analysis, it showed that five components were formed from the 26 questions: (1) intrinsic factor components, (2) desirable athlete characteristics, (3) facilitation components, (4) team organization and management components, and (5) extrinsic factor components. Each component had an eigenvalue greater than 1, and the total variance explained was 72.923 percent.
