FACTORS RELATED TO ACHIEVEMENT IN BASIC MEDICAL AND DENTAL SCIENCE PART OF NATION LICENSING EXAMINATION (NL1) OF DENTAL STUDENTS OF UNIVERSITY OF PHAYAO

This study aims to examine: 1) The personal factors of dental students that affect their assessment of basic medical science and dentistry knowledge (NL 1); and 2) The supporting factors from the Faculty of Dentistry at Phayao University that influence the assessment of basic medical science and dentistry knowledge (NL1).Using a questionnaire with 5Th Year students who passed the knowledge assessment in their 4th year and conducting structured in-depth interviews using simple random sampling by randomly drawing student identification numbers. The findings reveal that dental students at Phayao University consider personal factors in pre-exam behavior as the most important, followed by academic support from the Faculty of Dentistry, and finally, the support related to facilities. The personal factors with the highest importance concerning the assessment of basic medical science and dentistry knowledge (NL1) are exam-related behaviors (self-testing, self-review, and exam preparation).
The relationship between personal factors and the assessment of basic medical science and dentistry knowledge (NL1)among dental students shows that the number of exam attempts is related to exam behaviors, time management during exams, and gender is related to support factors from the Faculty regarding review activities provided to students before assessments, with statistical significance at 0.05.Personal factors such as pre-exam study behaviors, concentration, and attentiveness, as well as exam-related behaviors like self-testing, reviewing, and preparation, are significantly related to the assessment at a significance level of 0.05. Support factors from the faculty that are significantly related to the assessment of basic medical science and dentistry knowledge (NL1) also show statistical significance at 0.05. There is a recognition of the importance of time management and reviewing for exams, and there is a continued need for encouragement and support from the faculty, such as organizing review sessions before exams and periodic review activities to enhance students' preparedness.
