A DEVELOPMENT OF ENGLISH READING COMPREHENSION SKILLS THROUGH THE 5W1H TEACHING METHOD AMONG MATHAYOM 3 STUDENTS AT THE DEMONSTRATION SCHOOL OF MAHAMAKUT BUDDHIST UNIVERSITY DANSAI DISTRICT, LOEI PROVINCE
Abstract
The research entitled “A Development of English Reading Comprehension Skills Through the 5W1H Teaching Method Among Mathayom 3 Students at the Demonstration School of Mahamakut Buddhist University Dansai District, Loei Province” aimed to: (1) to develop English reading comprehension skill exercises, namely W-Read, with an efficiency criterion of 75/75, and (2) to compare students’ English reading comprehension achievement before and after learning through the 5W1H instructional model. The sample group consisted of 22 Mathayomsuksa 3 students from the Demonstration School of Mahamakut Buddhist University, Dan Sai District, Loei Province, during the first semester of the 2025 academic year. This study employed a quasi-experimental research design. The research instruments included a pretest and posttest, lesson plans, and W-Read reading exercises. Data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, and dependent samples t-test.
The research findings revealed that:
- The efficiency of the W-Read English reading comprehension skill exercises was 77.18/80.00, which was higher than the predetermined criterion.
- Students’ English reading comprehension achievement after learning through the 5W1H teaching method was significantly higher than before learning at the .05 level of significance.
