1. Aims and Objectives

The NIDA Development Journal (NDJ) publishes papers that describe or synthesize research of direct relevance to development administration. Its main objective is to publish high-quality, double-blind peer-reviewed papers evaluated by at least three referees. Submissions must not have been previously published and should reflect the latest research in policy, administration, and development.

The journal welcomes a wide range of academic contributions, including research articles, review articles, and book reviews.

All manuscripts must comply with the journal's manuscript preparation requirements.

3. Types of Articles

The journal welcomes the following types of manuscripts:

Research Articles

Present original research findings that contribute to the advancement of knowledge within the journal’s scope. Manuscripts must demonstrate methodological rigor, originality, and scholarly significance and are subject to a rigorous peer-review process.

Review Articles

Provide a comprehensive and critical synthesis of existing literature on a specific topic. Manuscripts should identify research gaps, emerging trends, and new perspectives that contribute to scholarly knowledge and are subject to a rigorous peer-review process.

Book Reviews

Offer a critical evaluation of books relevant to the journal’s scope, examining their key arguments, strengths, limitations, and scholarly contributions. Manuscripts should provide insightful analysis rather than merely summarize the content and are subject to editorial evaluation.

All submissions must adhere to the journal’s standards of scholarly writing, research ethics, and academic integrity.

4. Peer Review Process

Manuscripts are subject to a double-blind peer review process involving at least three referees. The evaluation considers the following criteria:

  1. Originality and creativity
  2. Academic contribution
  3. Completeness of content, structure, and research components
  4. Appropriate language usage
  5. Clarity of hypotheses, where applicable
  6. Clarity of presentation and organization
  7. Academic accuracy and correctness
  8. Quality of conclusions and discussion
  9. Appropriateness and accuracy of references and citations

5. Publication Frequency

The journal publishes two issues annually:

Issue 1 January–June
Issue 2 July–December

6. Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

7. Publication Charges

Effective from January 1, 2026, the NIDA Development Journal will implement an Article Processing Charge (APC) for accepted manuscripts.

APC Fee Structure

The fee rates for academic manuscript submissions to the the NIDA Development Journal shall be as follows:

(2) Article publication fee 2,500
Total APC per accepted manuscript 3,500

The APC will be applied only after the manuscript has passed the initial editorial screening. Authors will be notified by the editorial team and provided with payment instructions at that stage.

Payment Conditions

Manuscripts submitted before 1 January 2026 will not be subject to the APC.

Please note that the implementation of the APC has no influence on the editorial decisions regarding the acceptance or rejection of any manuscript.

The Institute shall not refund any of the fees specified in the preceding paragraph under any circumstances.

9. Language

The journal accepts manuscripts written exclusively in English. All submissions must be clear, concise, grammatically accurate, and written in appropriate academic English. Authors are responsible for ensuring the language quality, including grammar, spelling, and clarity, before submission.
