THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ADMINISTRATORS’ CORE COMPETENCIES DEVELOPMENT APPROACH AND EFFECTIVENESS OF THE ACADEMIC ADMINISTRATION IN SCHOOL UNDER BANGKOK PRIMARY EDUCATION

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to find out 1) the administrators’ core competencies level; 2) Effectiveness of the Academic Administration in school level; 3) the relationship between administrators’ core competencies development approach and effectiveness of the academic administration in school; 4) the guideline of the relationship between administrators’ core competencies development approach and effectiveness of the academic administration in school. The participants were 327 teachers from 37 schools under Bangkok Primary Education based on stratified random sampling depending on the school size. A rating scale questionnaire with the reliability of .986 and structured interview was used to collect the data. Statistics used in data analysis were mean, standard deviation and Pearson’s correlation


The results show that; 1) the administrators’ core competencies was at high level in overall; 2) effectiveness of the  academic administration in school level was at high level in overall; 3) a high correlation between the administrators’ core competencies and effectiveness of the academic administrations was with the statistically significant level at .01, and coefficient of correlation at .760; 4) the guideline of the relationship between administrators’ core competencies development approach and effectiveness of the academic administration in school is that the administrator need to have leadership quality, encourage their colleagues in the preparation of the educational curriculum, focus on the development of students who are physically, mentally, intellectually sound with knowledge and morality.
