Abstract

The aims of this research were 1) to examine the cultural identity of the Sabai Mon within the Mon Bang Luang community in Pathum Thani Province, 2) to create graphic patterns for the community's souvenir products, and 3) to assess attitudes regarding the design of these patterns. The study technique comprised comprehensive interviews and evaluative assessments of opinions. The sample group comprised 8 members of the community entrepreneurship group, 11 design experts, and 100 individuals from the general public and tourists in Pathum Thani Province. Specialists in graphic design and textile design assessed the outcomes. Eleven experts in graphic design and textile patterns deemed the geometric shape appropriate for the initial alteration of the original pattern, awarding it the highest average score of 4.03. The shape exhibited longevity, and the light color can effectively serve as the pattern's color during the initial alteration. It possessed an average rating of 4.00 due to its aesthetic appeal. The community entrepreneurial group selected three patterns from a total of 40. The group selected combination and alternation pattern designs that emphasized simplicity and lucid interpretation. This information was used to create three collections of souvenir product prototypes, comprising robes, shawls, bags, and hats. The satisfaction evaluation from the public and visitors indicated that the developed items achieved the highest satisfaction level, with an average score of 4.39. It may effectively establish uniqueness and worth for souvenir items while thoroughly conveying the significance of traditional culture.
