The Development of Muay Thai Curriculum Based on the King's Philosophy Concept in Educational Opportunity Expansion Schools Under the Office of Chonburi Primary Education Service Area 1

Abstract

This research article primarily aims to develop a Muay Thai course curriculum based on the King's Philosophy for opportunity expansion schools under the Office of Chonburi Primary Educational Service Area 1. The research was conducted in four phases: (1) Needs Analysis: Data were collected from 80 participants, including school directors, deputy directors, academic affairs heads, and heads of the health and physical education departments. Additionally, in-depth interviews were conducted with six physical education and Muay Thai teachers. (2) Curriculum Validation: Experts in Muay Thai (4), physical education (1), and curriculum design (2) assessed the curriculum’s quality. (3) Curriculum Implementation: The curriculum was tested with an experimental group of 40 students and a control group of 40 students. And (4) Evaluation and Revision: The curriculum was assessed and refined based on findings. The findings of the research revealed that 1) There was a high demand for curriculum development, with the highest need found in content (PNI_modified = 0.44) 2) The curriculum framework had an overall consistency index ranging from 0.71 to 1.0, with an average of 0.95, indicating strong coherence across all aspects. 3) The experimental group showed significantly higher learning achievement after completing the course. 4) According to the findings, students demonstrated the highest level of satisfaction toward the Muay Thai subject curriculum based on the King’s Philosophy, as implemented in expanded opportunity schools under the jurisdiction of the Chonburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 1.
