Abstract

PURPOSES: To study the problems and to provide guidelines for using biogas as an alternative energy policy measure. METHODS: It was a qualitative research employing documentary research and in-depth interviews of 20 experts for data collection. RESULTS: The research showed that biogas production could be a solution to the mitigation of wastewater, global warming, and the impact of pollution on the community.  The sludge after treatment also has the proper nutritional value for the plant. In terms of production technology, and could be used as fertilizer. The use of appropriate wastewater treatment and gas production technologies could increase the efficiency of the treatment at a low cost and need little maintenance. Guidelines for the use of biogas as an alternative energy include support from the government to enable pig farms to produce alternative energy at a low cost.  It could be developed to be the main energy in the future as alternative energy policy. THEORY/POLICY IMPLICATIONS: Biogas from pig farms could be a policy measure for an alternative source of energy.
