Abstract

The purpose of this article is to present a concept which integrates human resource (HR) strategies, competitive strategies, and product life cycle to achieve competitive advan- tages over their competitors in the same industry. After the past and present related literatures were reviewed, the fit among HR strategies, competitive strategies, and product life cycle has been determined. Thus, in the introduction stage, companies should use cost focus strategy or differentiation focus strategy including the use of HR strategy that emphasize on paying less on very working employees or innovative employees, especially, the specific skilled employ-ees. In the growth stage, companies should use differentiation strategy including the use of HR strategy that emphasize innovative employees. While in the maturity stage, companies should use cost leadership strategy including the use of HR strategy that emphasize on paying less on very working employees. Finally, in the decline stage, companies should use the cost focus strategy including the use of HR strategy that emphasize on paying less on very working employees and specific skilled employees.
