Establishment and Implementation of the Project to Establish a Special Economic Development Zone-in Kanchanaburi

Abstract

The objectives of the study were to investigate the establishment and implementation of the project to establish a special economic development zone in Kanchanaburi. The study was a qualitative research with a sample of 20 cases by using In Depth Interview. It was found that this project requires the urgent action for supporting industrial or commercial area development under a special economic zone by considering of each industrial infrastructure including public utility. According to problems and obstacles indicated that there were various factors as follows; construction time conditions, regulation improvement for promoting trade and investment in economic transactions area, foreign workers management and border trade which affected peoples’ income and occupation within community. On the other hand, the reasons why crime and drug from people outside occur in the community because people could not adapt to the new economic and society. Thus, community management would assist to produce the participation between government agencies, local government, private organization and people to solve the environmental impact issue such as intrude forest area, waste issue, industrial waste, water pollution, air pollution, dusts, and so on.The promoting development’s guidelines for government revealed that it was focused on industrial infrastructure in order to connect the transportation and provide the facilities both by water and land. Then, the expansion of industrial development in environmentally friendly. The preparation of industrial area with environmental management system, electrical system, industrial water supply system, government center and community center, education system and public health system. Additionally, the border trade promoting and working time for foreign workers should be identified correctly according to foreign business act B.E. 2551, and the regulations of the construction control in border to prevent and solve the problem about land price speculation and trespassing.
