Abstract

This research was aimed to evaluate 1) the appropriateness of the preparation phase before implementing the Student Support System (SSS), 2) the effectiveness of the implementation of the SSS, and 3) the successfulness of the SSS. The data sources were the school principal, the program director, 13 teachers, 20 at-risk and vulnerable group of students, and 20 parents. The instrument used for data collection was interview protocols. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics which was frequency and content analysis. The research findings were as follows: 1) For the preparation phased, the informants stated that the meeting aimed to clarify the program was properly conducted, the manual helped teachers to know and understand the system, and there was a clear action plan, which everyone got involved in planning; 2) For the implementation of the SSS, it was found that the activities were accomplished as planned, there was program mentoring by principal and the program director regularly, and the program implementation problems have been solved successfully; 3) In terms of the success arising from the application of the SSS, it showed that the school had system, which comprised of quality processes, methods, and instruments. Students had learning progress and improved their behaviors. The teachers knew and understood about their students as well as understood how to treat them. Parents were satisfied with the project. They were involved in helping their children. Moreover, to make the operation of the project more efficient, all teachers should be encouraged to participate in the SSS training. There should be parent network supporting and cooperating with the SSS. The informants realized that the SSS was a good project and beneficial. It achieved the objectives. Thus, they recommended that the project should be continued.
