Guidelines for Teachers Health Promotion under Rayong Municipality

Abstract

Health promotion for teachers is important and necessary, as a person with good physical and mental health will be able to do various activities happily. Being healthy is therefore desirable for everyone. However, health conditions are complex and continuously changing. This quantitative research studies health care of teachers in schools under the Rayong Municipality in 4 aspects; namely, Physical health, Hygiene, Mental health and Nutrition, and suggests guidelines for promoting health care of teachers in schools under Rayong Municipality. The samples used in the research were 169 teachers from 6 schools under Rayong Municipality, Rayong Province. The researcher determined the sample size by using the ready-made tables from Krejcice & Morgan, then performed a simple random sampling to find the proportions of each school. Research instrument was a 5-level estimation scale questionnaire with confidence values. From a questionnaire regarding health promotion in schools under the Rayong Municipality, Rayong Province with a topic of “Annual health check-up for teacher employees under Rayong Municipality”. The level of execution is high ( = 4.16) in regard to raising personal health awareness which is related to the matter of health care. The research showed that Health care operation for teachers in schools under Rayong Municipality as a whole was performed at a good level ( = 4.35). When considering each aspect, the aspect with the highest average was Physical health ( = 4.40), followed by Nutrition ( = 4.37) and Mental health ( = 4.34) respectively. The aspect with the lowest mean was Hygiene ( = 4.30). The guidelines for promoting the health care of teachers in schools under the Rayong Municipality are as follows: (1) Nutrition aspect; administrators are advised to develop and improve school cafeteria to be clean and sufficient for teachers and students, as well as provide a hygienic waste disposal system and encourage teachers to eat hygienic food that is good for health (2) Physical health aspect; administrators are advised to provide physical fitness testing for teachers and school personnel along with a thorough annual health check-up, organize physical exercises and activities such as aerobic dance and various sports, while providing proper health care knowledge. (3) Mental health aspect; administrators are advised to encourage and support more recreational activities such as sports competition among teachers and off-campus activities. (4) Hygiene aspect; administrators are advised to encourage and support teachers regarding proper and regular waste segregation and disposal.
