The Needs Assessment for Teacher Development Relates to Applying Local Wisdom in Instruction

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to assess the need for teacher development in applying local wisdom in teaching. The sample size was defined by the number of teachers at schools located in the Hua Ro Sub district. Under the Phitsanulok Primary Educational Service Area Office 1, 105 people. A questionnaire was used to collect the data. The index of item objective congruence (IOC) for the questions ranges from 0.67 to 1.00 and the actual condition's reliability was 0.97, whereas the expected condition's reliability was 0.98. Frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation were utilized to examine the data. and the modified priority needs index (PNIModeflied) calculation. The findings indicated that 81% of respondents employed local wisdom in their instruction. And the teacher employs local wisdom by inviting local scholars to teach at the school. Additionally, it was discovered that the reality of incorporating indigenous wisdom into overall teaching was on a moderate level (=3.09 S.D.=0.72) and the expected condition for applying indigenous wisdom to teaching was on a high level (=3.93 S.D.=0.58). When the number of needs was compared to the index indicating their importance in ascending order, it was discovered that teachers possessed the first need, which was the planning aspect (PNImodified= 0.28). Following that is instructional practice (PNImodified= 0.27), measurement and evaluation (PNImodified= 0.27), and utilization (PNImodified= 0.26).
