Abstract

The objectives of this study were to investigate dynamics of Lao Pan dulcimer(Khim) solo performance and to study the factors affecting the dynamics of Lao Pan  dulcimer solo performance. The researcher selected a case study on The Dynamics of Laopan Solo for Khim of Luang Pradit Phairoh (Sorn Silapabanleng). From the analysis of songs from 3 data people, Ajarn Chanok Sakrik, Ajarn Nattawee Sodkomkham and Ajarn Rattanin Akarasinthanyachot who represents each era in order to find the dynamics in the aforementioned dulcimer, it was found that Luang Pradit Phairoh Foundation (Sorn Silapabanleng) as a whole can consider the consistency of the melody that Ajarn Chanok and Ajarn Nattawee's solo dulcimer had the most similar harmony. It was found that Lao Pan Yai, Lao Somdet, Lao Lod Khai and Soom Lao Pan in Lao Pan solo dulcimer song had a consistent melody.  However, the melody in the Lao Pan Noi song by Ajarn Chanok and Ajarn Rattanin had a more consistent melody than the melody of Ajarn Nattawee. From the comparison of the three melodies, Ajarn Rattanin’s Lao Pan dulcimer was the most different from Achan Chanok and Ajarn Nattawee's solo dulcimer. Regarding the factors affecting the dynamics of Lao Pan dulcimer solo performance, it was found that the change in music was caused by both external and internal factors. The change was found to be an evolutionary change, a gradual change as Thai musical traditions have been cultivated and practiced for a long time, but because some customs are against the existence of a solo song, the flexibility to suit the learner, appropriate to the situation will allow the solo song to remain in Thai music culture forever.
