Guidelines on Publishing Ethics

          1. Author’s submission should be error free with little to no grammatical mistakes within the text. Authors are responsible for their own proofreading. At the authors request we can provide proofreading services for a fee ranging between 3,500 – 5,000 Thai baht per manuscript.

Authors are responsible for disclosing financial and personal relationships with other people or organisations that could be viewed as inappropriately influencing (bias) their work.

Authors are responsible for disclosing their funding sources. In addition authors must agree that the funding source was not involved in: the study design; in the collection, the analysis and interpretation of data; in the writing of the manuscript; and in the decision to submit the article for publication. If the funding source(s) had no such involvement then this should be stated.

Authors are responsible for disclosing potential conflicts of interest. Potential conflicts of interest should be disclosed at the earliest possible stage. Examples of potential conflicts of interest which should be disclosed include: employment, consultancies, stock ownership, honoraria, paid expert testimony, patent applications/registrations, and grants or other funding.

          2. Editor can reject a manuscript at any stage of the peer-review process. The review process is as follows:

          - manuscripts are first screened by the editorial team for a quality check and to ensure the manuscript meets the scope of the journal (length, components, scope, etc.).
          - if approved, then go on to reviewers for double-blind peer-review
          - after reviews are received from the peer-reviewers, the editorial team makes a decision to accept or reject the manuscript.

          3. Authors are responsible for submitting original manuscripts and by submitting their work to jSEL they are guaranteeing that the work has not been published elsewhere. The authors agree that they are submitting unpublished work and the manuscript is not under consideration for peer review in another journal. Authors are responsible for notifying the journal if the manuscript had been previously submitted to other journals. Plagiarism, including duplicate publication of the author's own work, in whole or in part without proper citation is not tolerated by the journal.

          4. The editor shall ensure that the peer review process is fair, unbiased, and timely. Research articles are typically reviewed by at least two external and independent reviewers. In some cases where reviews contrast significantly the editor may seek additional opinions from other reviewers of the manuscript.

Reviewers are selected based on their suitable expertise in the relevant field(s) that the manuscript is based on.  The editor follows the best applicable practices to avoid the selection of fraudulent peer reviewers. The editor is responsible for reviewing all known disclosures of potential conflicts of interest. The editor is also responsible for reviewing any suggestions for self-citation that reviewers make to determine any potential bias or conflict of interest.

          5. The authors and copyright holders grant to all users a free, irrevocable, worldwide, perpetual right of access to, and a license to copy, use, distribute, transmit and display their work publicly and to make and distribute derivative works, in any digital medium for any responsible purpose, subject to proper attribution of authorship, as well as the right to make small numbers of printed copies for their personal use.

          6. jSEL does not make editorial decisions based on anything other than intellectual content. The editor evaluates manuscripts only for their intellectual merit. Race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or the political philosophy of authors are not factors in editorial decisions.

The editorial policies of jSEL are designed to be transparent. The editor of jSEL maintains standards that are complete. jSEL’s editor verifies that peer reviewers and authors have a clear understanding of their respective expectations for publication and review in jSEL.  jSEL uses the journal’s standard electronic submission system for all journal communications.
