Abstract

This research aims to study the process of producing Yong Identity among the teenager at Wat Pratupa in Lumphun Province, by asking them to produce a documentary VDO about their society. The result found that youngster defines the Identity of Yong by their own experience. Everyone characterizes themselves as an insider and as a person who has various experiences of interaction with outsiders. That is the reason why the construction of the Yong identities from these young adults is more flexible than originated Yong. These documentaries were both reproduction and reconstruction of their identities inside their community in Lumphun.

However, the process of their VDO production is the procedure of passing the Yong culture in the Wat Pratupa community from the elderly to the younger. In conclusion, the documentary VDO is not only narrate the story of Yong from the young’s perspective, but also accomplish as a channel to preserve and pass along the Yong Identity to the group of Yong in Wat Pratupa community.
