บทคัดย่อ
บริเวณที่วัฒนธรรมที่ต่างกันสองวัฒนธรรมมาประสมกัน ซึ่งในที่นี้ใช้บริเวณคาบสมุทรมลายูเป็นตัวอย่าง จะเกิดการประสมกันของวัฒนธรรมที่ต่างกัน ซึ่งเรียกว่า การคลุกเคล้าทางวัฒนธรรม จนเกิดความกลมกลืนเป็นวัฒนธรรม ที่คนในท้องถิ่นนั้นๆ มีร่วมกัน เป็นชีวิตถิ่นที่ในด้านหนึ่งมีลักษณะเฉพาะเป็นของตนเอง มีความแตกต่างไม่มากก็น้อย จากวัฒนธรรมข้างเคียง แต่อีกด้านหนึ่ง ก็มีการเปลี่ยนแปลง เนื่องจากต้องปรับตัวกับสิ่งใหม่ๆ และอิทธิพลต่างๆ ที่เคลื่อนที่เข้ามาจากภายนอก ดังนั้นชีวิตถิ่นในแต่ละแห่งที่จึงมีความซับซ้อน เป็นชีวิตที่มีความยืดหยุ่น เคลื่อนไหวอยู่เสมอ เพื่อตอบรับกับการเปลี่ยนแปลง ที่เกิดขึ้น
